Coffee Rules Everything Around Me

I am hardly capable of doing anything before I have my morning coffee.  Quite frankly, It's a problem.  I can't even get my mascara on without a cup.  Hot, iced, drip, or french press I always enjoy it.  While drinking loads of coffee may not be super beneficial, coffee grounds do offer a lot of benefits other than being your get-shit-done fuel.  How? Well, let me tell you!

Coffee is naturally full of antioxidants.  There are many skin care products on the market that focus on using antioxidants to heal and restore damage to your face.  Antioxidants work to fight free radicals in your cells and counteract the appearance of damage to your skin.

More obvious is the abundance of caffeine in coffee.  Caffeine can be used to in creams reduce puffiness or swelling.  Caffeine constricts blood cells which will reduce redness, firm skin, as well as dehydrate fatty cells (minimizing the appearance of cellulite).

Here are a few ways you can save a few bones and DIY your own brewed skincare.

Body Scrub

2 Cups used coffee grounds
1 Cup sea salt
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp vanilla extract (sweeter scent)

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir together.  Apply to dry skin and massage in.  Don't be too rough!  You don't want to irritate your skin.  Rinse off in the shower.

To fight the appearance of cellulite, rub mixture over butt and thighs then wrap in plastic wrap.  Leave on for 30-60min and shower off.  Your skin will be firmer and smoother!

Coffee Face Mask

3 Tbsp coffee grounds
1 Tbsp honey

Combine in a bowl and microwave for 10 seconds.  Stir ingredients together and apply on your face.  Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off!  The honey is antibacterial and anti inflammatory so it will help with breakouts.  The caffeine will improve circulation in your skin as well as de-puff and firm.  Your skin will look smooth and bright!

Puffy Eye Treatment

Immediately after brewing coffee, pour coffee grounds into a cheesecloth.  Tie off the top with a rubber band or string.  Place in a plastic bag and leave in the freezer over night.  In the morning, remove from freezer and place on puffy eyes.  The cold and caffeine should take care of any swelling and redness!  Make a new one each week!
